Dr. Whitney H. Mitchell, MD

Dr. Mitchell earned her Bachelor of Science in Genetics from Texas A&M University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She pursued her medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in the top ten percentile of her class and being inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Her residency in Psychiatry was completed at University Hospital, Audie Murphy VA Hospital, and Wilford Hall Medical Center, where she gained comprehensive experience in both outpatient and acute inpatient settings.

With a strong foundation in evidence-based medication management for mental health issues, Dr. Mitchell has also focused her training on psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is passionate about lifelong learning and continually expands her knowledge in the fields of happiness science, psychology, religion, anthropology, gender and sexuality, and sociology.

Dr. Mitchell has been in private practice for 15 years. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, mood disorders, trauma recovery, and issues related to sexual, personality, and relational problems. She is a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
